Monthlies: nueva tienda online – new online store

Hola! Hoy quiero hablar de mis colaboraciones en Monthlies, con Diana Fabiánová y Lenka Gondolova. El trabajo online no es un descubrimiento para mí, aunque sí me trae nuevas sensaciones, nuevas aventuras y amistades en todo el mundo. Una de las cosas que más me gusta de trabajar en este equipo, The Moon Inside You Team, es que puedo sugerir, contrastar, opinar y crear con libertad. El respeto por el trabajo de la otra persona y la motivación que se palpa invita a la creación, a la bienvenida de ideas y a llevar la generosidad de tantas personas a otro plano más menstrualmente consciente!

Y así colaborando se crean nuevas opciones. Y una de ellas fue la creación de la Agenda Menstrual en inglés para Monthlies, con la colaboración de Laura Martínez Hortal de Femenino y Plural. Y otra, la creación de una serie de Óvulos en plástica. Trabajé en la creación de varios óvulos en acrílica, acuarela, tintas, etc.. basados en el óvulo original de plastilina de Coke Rioboo que aparece en la película Monthlies.

Como siempre que formo parte de un proceso creativo atrevido, disfruto y mi parte más instintiva queda libre, satisfecha y hambrienta preparándose para otros proyectos interesantes. Como parte de la menstruación, estos proyectos se relacionan directamente con el objetivo de educar, de ayudar a las personas de nuestro alrededor a facilitar las herramientas para comenzar esas conversaciones con las pequeñas en su menarquía y con las mujeres de nuestro alrededor, que llevamos la carga de los tabúes impuestos históricamente, socialmente y personalmente.

Hi! Today I want to talk about my collaborations in Monthlies, with Diana Fabiánová and Lenka Gondolova. Online work is not a discovery for me, although it brings new sensations, new adventures and friendships around the world. One of the things I like about working in this team, The Moon Inside You Team, is that I can freely suggest, compare, review and create. Respect for the other person’s work and palpable motivation invite creation, welcome ideas and bring the generosity of so many people to another plane more “menstrually” aware!

And thus helping creates new options. And one of them was the creation of the Menstrual Diary in English for Monthlies, with the collaboration of Laura Martínez Hortal of Feminine and Plural. And the other, the creation of a series of ovules in plastic. I worked in the creation of several ovules in acrylic, watercolour, ink, etc. based on the original ovule made of plasticine by Coke Rioboo which appears in the film Monthlies.

As long as I am part of a daring creative process, I enjoy and my most instinctive part remains free, happy and hungry, preparing itself for other interesting projects. As part of the menstruation, these projects relate directly to the goal of educating, helping people around to provide some tools to begin talks with girls in their menarche and women of our environment, who carry the burden of taboos historically, socially and personally imposed.

Brazos arriba Útero arriba – Arms up Uterus up

Otra semana del curso básico de arte. “Introduction to Art: Concepts & Techniques” MOOC ofrecido por Penn State & Coursera (Pennsylvania State University). Tema de esta semana: Dentro del espacio. Palabras clave: flexible, espacio, contenido, impacto, medio ambiente, instalación, naturaleza, interacción con la audiencia, educando a la audiencia, formar una relación entre la naturaleza y la audiencia. Se trata de transmitir tu relación con el espacio seleccionado y el sitio, así como tu creatividad. Tuve que seleccionar un sitio al aire libre y crear una instalación medio-ambiental temporal específica pensando cómo considerar el uso del espacio y material. Usando las ideas personales tendría que reflejar la influencia de un artista medio-ambiental. Esta semana conocimos en clase a Marcel Duchamp, Claes Oldenburg, Walter De Maria, Christo and Jeanne-Claude, Andy Goldsworthy, Rachel Whiteread, and Ana Mendieta.

Aprendí a respetar la interrelación entre el arte y el espacio (que influye tanto en el espectador) relacionado también entre la obra y el espectador. Aprendí a apreciar mejor la complejidad a la que se enfrenta el artista de instalación (installation artist). Y en mi caso tuve que enfrentarme al levante (viento del este). Yo quería crear la ilusión de un trozo de espacio en el cielo (el cielo como fondo) y… ¡lee el escrito del artista que entregué con mi trabajo!

Fui a las lecturas semanales y he visto los videos. Y vi su trabajo. ¿Quién es Ana Mendieta? ¿Por qué no he visto su trabajo antes? Oí la palabra feminismo. Vi sus manos arrastrándose hacia abajo de la pared al suelo llenas de ese precioso rojo. La entiendo. La siento.

Fui a ver su trabajo en la net. ¿Has visto el arte de Ana Mendieta?

Me duele mi ignorancia.

Si hay artistas como Ana Mendieta por ahí… Me gustaría conocerlas. Quiero saber más sobre su trabajo.

Rápidamente comprendí cómo honrar a Ana. Palabras clave principales que me atrajeron: pertenencia, feminismo, mujeres, arte corporal, arte terrestre y del paisaje. Agrego útero, origen, creación, luz. Ana trabajó sobre pertenencia, en regeneración, vida y muerte, en la lengua del feminismo transmitida en algunas de sus siluetas.

Pensé en mi madre. Mi punto de vista de pertenencia como me siento ahora se relaciona con mi origen; sin embargo, me gustaría expresar el origen con un retrato generacional personal siendo mi verdadera raíz el cuerpo de mi propia madre. Por lo tanto, señalo la silueta de la madre como la base de este trabajo artístico. Al mismo tiempo hago honor a mi madre. Creación. Máxima fuerza de expresión. Ella es mi origen. Su útero es el lugar en la tierra al que pertenecí. El útero representa la vida y también la muerte, ya que a veces me siento morir en mi vientre debido a los dolores y calambres. Los úteros son impresiones de sello de goma diseñados específicamente para este trabajo artístico. Quise honrar a muchas otras mujeres llenando todo el cuerpo de mi madre con pequeños úteros.

Dibujé su perfil y como no tenía suficiente papel redimensioné su silueta de acuerdo con el tamaño de papel disponible. Translúcido porque quería camuflar su cuerpo en el paisaje solicitado: el cielo como parte de la tierra. Tierra como parte de la esencia de Ana. Mi madre se presenta en una posición familiar a las siluetas de Ana: los brazos hacia arriba.

Quería mostrar una instalación efímera y utilicé un papel transparente que uno de mis tíos me dió no hace mucho tiempo. Se guardó para reciclarse y tiene más de 30 años. Se rompía fácilmente. Quería que el escenario fuera efímero como Ana, parte de ese aire, de esa luz,  de ese cielo. Aunque fuerte, pues notaba su influencia en mí. Así que utilicé este papel de calco, para recrear de esta forma la sensación de camuflaje en la tierra, en el cielo. Encaja con la tierra. Así que pensé instalar la pieza en el aire… flotando en un pedazo de cielo. ¿Es el cielo parte de la tierra? ¿Está equilibrada entonces? Pero… No conté con el estado de ánimo de la naturaleza. Hoy hemos tenido un gran levante. Levante es el nombre que damos a los vientos del este en esta zona de España, Andalucía, zona de Cádiz. Teníamos levante y no había manera de hacer la instalación como quería. Así que me decidí por colocarla en el suelo, y allí este antiguo papel sabio quiso escapar de su quietud y vivir su vida libre… tras haber estado guardado durante años y años en un tubo de cartón.

Peleando con el viento el papel voló hacia una valla de alambre. Una cerca que me recordó a las fronteras y a los bordes. Allí estaba por sí solo. Ana salió de Cuba y fue a Iowa. Ella fue enviada junto con su hermana (si recuerdo bien) por sus padres cuando era pequeña ya que había un conflicto en Cuba, la invasión de Bahía de Cochinos.

Tuve la suerte de documentar el proceso con algunas imágenes, no como yo deseaba, pero creo que puedes tener una idea de mi tarea y los contratiempos que tuve. ¡Fue muy divertido! ¡Una aventura!

Me decidí a hablar una vez más de las mujeres, nuestros úteros, equidad y feminismo. Creación y pertenencia. Decidí usar el lenguaje de Ana para transmitir una parte de mí sólo procesando su trabajo y aprendiendo sobre la fusión de su esencia con la mía y bueno… el estado de ánimo de la naturaleza tan interesante. Ana Mendieta, gracias.

Brazos arriba Útero arriba – Arms up Uterus up

Another week at the “Introduction to Art: Concepts & Techniques” MOOC offered by Penn State & Coursera. This week unit: Inside the Space. Keywords: flexible, space, content, impact, environment, installation, nature, audience interaction, educating audience, forming a relationship between nature and the audience. It is meant to convey your relationship to the selected space and site, as well as your creativity. We had to select an outdoor site and create a temporal site-specific environmental installation thinking how to consider the use of space and material. Using personal ideas I needed to reflect influence of an Environmental Artist. This week I got to know in class Marcel Duchamp, Claes Oldenburg, Walter De Maria, Christo and Jeanne-Claude, Andy Goldsworthy, Rachel Whiteread, and Ana Mendieta.

I learnt to respect the interrelationship between the artwork and its space (that influences the viewer so much) and related also to the one between the artwork and the viewer. I learnt to better appreciate the complexity faced by the Installation artist. And in my case I had to confront the levante (winds of the east). I wanted to create the illusion of a piece of space in the sky and… read the artist statement I handed in with my artwork!

Artist Statement

I went to the weekly readings and I watched the videos. And I saw her work. Who is Ana Mendieta? Why I haven’t seen her work before? I heard the word feminism. I saw her hands crawling down on the wall to the floor full of that gorgeous red. I understand her. I feel her!

I went to check her work on the net. Have you seen Ana Mendieta’s art?

My ignorance hurts.

If there are artists as Ana Mendieta out there… I want to know. I want to meet them. I want to know more about their work.

I quickly understood how to honour Ana. Main keywords that attracted me: Belonging, feminism, women, body art, earth and landscape art. I add uterus, origin, creation, light. Ana worked on belonging, on regeneration, life and death, on the language of feminism transmitted in some of her silhouettes.

I thought about my mother. My belonging perspective as I feel it now is related to my origin; however I would like to express origin with a personal generational portrait being my true root my own mothers body. Therefore I point my mum’s silhouette as the basis of this artwork. I do at the same time honour my mum. Creation. Maximum strength of expression. She is my origin. Her uterus is the place in earth where I belonged. The uterus represents life and also death, since I sometimes feel dying in my own womb cramps pain. The uteruses are rubber stamp prints specifically designed for this art work. I wanted to honour many other women by filling my mum’s whole body with little uteruses.

I sketched her out and as I didn’t have enough paper I resized her silhouette for the actual paper size. Translucent as I wanted to camouflage her body in the chosen landscape: the sky as part of the earth. Earth as part of Ana’s essence. My mum presents herself in a familiar position to Ana’s Silhouettes: Arms up.

I wanted to display an ephemeral installation and I used a transparent paper that one of my uncles gave me not long ago. It was kept to be recycled and it was more than 30 years old. It broke easily. I wanted the setting to be ephemeral as Ana, part of that air, that light, that sky. Though strong, I could feel her influence in me. So I use this tracing paper, to recreate in a way the feeling of camouflage in the land, earth’s sky. It fits with earth. So I thought to install the piece on the air… floating in a piece of sky. Is the sky part of earth? Is it balanced then? But… I didn’t count on nature’s mood. Today we had a great deal of “levante”. Levante is the name we give to the winds of the east in this area in Spain, Andalucía, Cádiz area. We had levante and there was no way I could do the installation as I wanted. So I decided to place it on the ground, and even there this ancient wise paper wanted to escape from stillness and live its life free… after been for years and years kept in a mailing tube.

Fighting with the wind the paper flew straight to the wire fence. A fence which reminded me frontiers and borders. There it was on its own. Ana left Cuba and went to Iowa. She was sent together with her sister (if I remember well) by her parents when she was very little as there was a conflict in Cuba, Bay of Pigs Invasion.

I was lucky to document the process with some images, not as good as I wished but I think you can have an idea of my assignment and today’s setbacks. It was fun! What an adventure!

I decided to once more talk about women, our uterus, equity and feminism. Creation and belonging. I decided to use Ana’s language to transmit a part of me just processing her work and learning about melting her essence with mine, and well… our interesting nature’s mood. Ana Mendieta, thank you.

mi Útero dadá – My dada Uterus

Mi útero fantasea con mi yo más dadá.

Pues sí… Fantasea… Descubro la Fantasía, el Dadaísmo y Surrealismo y mis técnicas simplistas dan rienda suelta a profundizar en mi yo más dadá.

Hablo de la segunda semana del curso básico de arte. Es un curso gratuito online: Introduction to Art: Concepts & Techniques” MOOC ofrecido por Penn State & Coursera (Pennsylvania State University)  aprendo sobre varios artistas, Chagall, Chirico, Duchamp, Ray. Voy poniendo cada movimiento a cada obra tan famosa que vi tantas veces sin saber más allá. Qué gusto aclararme y comprender un poquito más sobre arte.

Me ha sido imposible no vincular mi aprendizaje actual sobre la mujer con el curso de arte. Así que mi obra para esta semana delata lo que pienso. En estos últimos tiempos aprendo sobre la mujer,  feminismo, igualdad y género. Y cada vez que leo algo me quito un velo. Y otro. Y otro más. Aprendo sobre la sumisión de la mujer. Sobre la religión como herramienta de manipulación. Sobre la dependencia del hombre al poder. Las graves consecuencias del amor romántico. Empoderamiento y un largo etc. Es por ello que he pensando en mí, en las mujeres de mi alrededor. También he pensado en ellos, y en el lastre que aún tienen que trabajar para soltar. Porque el poder, puede llegar a ser un lastre, una carga pesada.

Con algo de humor, realicé este trabajo titulado Tomando Conciencia. Aunque tiene un segundo título: mi  Útero dadá.

A continuación puedes leer el escrito del artista que realicé para presentar el trabajo en clase. Se habla del material usado (acrílico, tinta, acuarelas,  creación de un sello de goma para la letra P) y de las imágenes usadas para collage, en este caso obtenidas de unas revistas de ciencias como recomendaron.

Estoy aprendiendo un poco sobre estudios de género, patriarcado, empoderamiento mujeres. Creo que ganar conciencia de la equidad y la igualdad de género es como respirar. Tenemos que aprender a contribuir con nuestros puntos de vista. Así que se trata de un homenaje Dadá a las mujeres, y  hombres. 🙂 De vez en cuando nos merecemos reír y disfrutar de nuestro proceso artístico creativo. La letra P que se deshace es para patriarcado… que poco a poco todos nos estamos dando cuenta de que su existencia no tiene sentido.

La Luna es por dos razones: por la expresión en inglés, to be over the moon, estar super contentas. Las mujeres estarán super contentas cuando cada una de nosotras se sienta segura y en paz viviendo en cualquier lugar en este planeta, cualquier país, cualquier ciudad, cualquier pueblo. En casa. Y la segunda razón es para nuestra luna, la menstruación, presente y tan natural en la humanidad, y aún así siendo silenciada, como se silencian a muchas mujeres en muchos países.

Me gustaría que pensaras  en mis palabras y hacerte reflexionar sobre la igualdad de género al mirar este trabajo dadá. Espero que te guste y encuentres razones para comprender los gestos de cada rostro dibujado alrededor del ser humano y el chimpancé…

My uterus fantasizes about my dada self.

Well Yes… it fantasizes… I am discovering Fantasy, Dadaism and Surrealism and my simplistic techniques unleash a deeper dada self.

I am talking about the second week of the basic art course. It’s a free learning course online: Introduction to Art: Concepts & Techniques” MOOC offered by Penn State & Coursera. I am learning about various artists, Chagall, Chirico, Duchamp, Ray. I’m placing each movement to each famous art piece I have seen so many times without knowing beyond. It’s such a joy clarifying and understanding a little more about art.

It was impossible not to link my current women learning with the art course. So my work for this week reveals what I think. I am currently learning about women, feminism, equality and gender. And whenever I read I remove a veil. Another. And another one. I learn about female submission. About religion as a tool of manipulation. About male dependent on power. Serious consequences of romantic love. Empowerment and a long etcetera. That is why I thought about me, about women around me. I’ve also thought about men, and about the load they still have to work and release. Because power, can become overwhelm, a burden.

With some humor, I made this artwork titled Becoming Aware. Although it holds a second one: My dada Uterus.

You can read below the artist statement I wrote to present the artwork. I talk about the material used (acrylic, ink, watercolours, creation of a rubber stamp for the letter P) and images used for collage, in this case obtained from some science journals as recommended.

I am learning a bit about gender studies, patriarchy and women empowerment. I believe to gain awareness of equity and gender equality is like breathing. We need to learn to contribute with our perspectives. So this is a Dada tribute to us women, and men. 🙂 From time to time we deserve to laugh and enjoy our creative arty process. The melting letter P is for Patriarchy… which little by little we are all realizing it has no point to exist. The moon is for two reasons: women will be over the moon when each one of us feels secure and in peace living in any place in this planet, any country, any city, any village. At home. And the second reason is for our moon, our menstruation, present and so natural to humanity, still silenced, as many women in many countries.

I would like you to think about my words and to make you reflect about gender equality watching this dada work. I hope you enjoy it and find reasons to understand the gestures of every face drawn around the human and the chimpanzee.

Entre Pinturas

La tercera de las 4 mujeres. La mujer y la creatividad. Instinto, gracia, la necesidad de crear y la experiencia entre otras me invitan a conocerme y retarme. Es momento para concentrar mis ideas y proyectar mis ganas de aprender a pintar y dibujar, de manera sencilla, cometiendo tantos errores que me enseñan a liberar mis creaciones.

La Mujer 3: Tree Doll (2012)

En la pintura esta mujer sueña entre notas musicales y crea sintiendo la rabia amistar su instinto creativo. Recibe jugando con gracias y regala usando sus manos, creando. ¿A quién muestra esa sonrisa? Siente en su interior la mejor de sus creaciones.  Se mueve con el cariño que curva aún más su cuerpo. Gira la luz a la izquierda para seducir dejando ver suaves misterios. La atracción de su clara mente apasiona a aquellas personas de su alrededor y aleja sus miedos sintiéndose protegida cuando llora.

Conciliadora, mujer amante de los retos se libera de la rutina entre pinceles, palabras, ideas y creación en constante evolución. Le duele la incertidumbre del comienzo, le sobrepasa a veces, y llega a los momentos en los que actúa y satisface su presente entre ideas realizadas. Aclara su fondo, descansa su cuerpo y chapotea entre sabores estimulantes cuando lo cree necesario. Las aventuras culturales intensifican su cuádruple percepción y no la ciegan buscando metas masculinas… se agrupa con sus semejantes buscando humana igualdad.

Among Paintings

Woman 3 is based on women and creativity. Instinct, grace, the need to create and experience among others invite me to meet me and challenge myself. It is time to focus my ideas and project my desire to learn to paint and draw, in a simple way, making many mistakes teaching me to release my creations.

Woman 3: Tree Doll (2012)

In the painting this woman dreams amongst musical notes and creates feeling rage befriends her creative instinct. She receives playing with grace and gives away using her hands, creating. To whom does she offers that smile? She feels inside the best of her creations. She moves with love which bends her body even more. She turns the light to the left to seduce revealing soft mysteries. The attraction of her clear mind inspires passion to people around her and pushes away her fears feeling protected when she cries.

Conciliatory, she is a challenges lover woman who releases her routine among brushes, words, ideas and creation in constant evolution. The uncertainty of the start hurts her, surpasses her at times, and she reaches moments when acts and meets her present between made ideas. She brightens her background, resting her body and sloshes between stimulant flavors when she believes it is necessary. Cultural adventures intensify her quadruple perception and do not blind her looking for male goals… she is grouped with her peers looking for human equality.

Caras 101 – El Arte de la Tontería

¿Te acuerdas cuando eras pequeñ@ y dibujabas?  Nuestro estado creativo era puro, nos ponían un espacio en blanco o cualquier espacio, y un lápiz, y plasmábamos lo que se nos pasaba por la cabeza, logrando transmitir y comunicar eso que somos, creaciones.

Dibujar es uno de los hobbies que desarrollo, que he aprendido a respetar. Sí, respetar. En este tiempo que comencé a obsesionarme por encontrar empleo me olvidé de mi persona, de lo que me gusta hacer. En estos meses recupero mi respeto por disfrutar, por dibujar, pintar, leer, comunicarme y expresarme según se me antoje. Respetando mis momentos. Aprendo a volver a ser niña, a respetar mi niña interior creativa.

Tengo la gran suerte de contar con algunas personas alrededor que me hacen regalos, libros y cursos, lo que más me gusta, leer y aprender. Precisamente uno de los cursos que más he disfrutado últimamente, Faces 101 de Carla Sonheim, fue un regalo maravillo y lleno de sorpresas. Me llegó su libro, Drawing Lab for Mixed Media Artists: 52 Creative Exercises to Make Drawing Fun, y estoy deseando comenzar cada lab y disfrutar. Ya te contaré sobre el proceso creativo :D.

Faces 101 ha sido todo un descubrimiento de diferentes técnicas para crear de una manera divertida caras. ¡Sí Caras! Tal como lees. El curso dura 5 días en los que te enfrentas a una serie de actividades diarias para dibujar y pintar caras. Puedes ver estas imágenes de algunas de las actividades que realicé, con diferentes técnicas.

Agradezco muchísimo a Carla y a las compañeras del curso esa sensación de unidad, de motivación continua y hermandad. Faces 101 no solo me ha servido para desarrollar esas caras que trasladé de fotos, imágenes y mi propia imaginación, sino que también reflexioné sobre los detalles. Aprendí a enfrentarme y derribar algunos muros sobre mi proceso creativo artístico y a darme cuenta de que la presencia e identidad facial de la otra persona es intensa, junto a la ausencia de la identidad corpórea. ¡Divertido!

Es por eso que he querido añadir un dibujo a acuarela que realicé hace poco, de un cuerpo de mujer sin cabeza, sin cara, como punto final a tanta presencia facial. 🙂 El cuerpo refleja los colores del alma, contra-reflexionando la famosa frase la cara es el espejo del alma, que seguro has oído alguna vez.

Faces 101 – The Art of Silliness

Do you remember when you were a child and draw?  Our creative state was pure, they used to give us a pencil and any blank space, and we expressed what was on our mind, managing to manifest and communicate what we are, creations.

Drawing is one of the hobbies I am learning to develop; I’ve learned to respect it. Yes, respect. At the time I began to be obsessed to find employment I forgot about myself, what I like to do. Currently I am getting back my respect for enjoying, drawing, painting, reading, communicating and expressing myself as I please, having respect for my moments. I am learning to be a child again, to respect my creative inner child.

I have the great fortune of having some people around me who give me beautiful gifts, books and courses, what I like the most, to read and learn. Precisely one of the courses I have most enjoyed lately, Faces 101 by Carla Sonheim, was a wonderful and full of surprises gift. I got her book, Drawing Lab for Mixed Media Artists: 52 Creative Exercises to Make Drawing Fun, and I look forward to begin each lab and enjoy. I’ll tell you all about the creative process sometime soon :D.

Faces 101 has been quite a discovery of different techniques to create your own funny faces. Yes faces! As you read. The course is 5 days facing a series of daily activities to draw and paint faces. You can see these images of some of the activities I drew, with different techniques.

I am grateful to Carla and classmates for that feeling of unity, continuous motivation and fraternity. Faces 101 helped me not only to develop those faces transferred from photos, images and my own imagination, but I also reflected on the details. I learnt to face and knock down some walls of my own artistic creative process and realized the presence and the other’s facial identity is intense, along with the absence of the corporeal identity. Fun!

That’s why I wanted to add a watercolor I’ve recently drawn, a headless woman’s body, faceless, as an end to so much facial presence. 🙂 The body reflects the colours of the soul, opposed-reflecting the following sentence, the face is the mirror of the soul – the eyes are the window to the soul, which surely you’ve heard.

Aprendo a usar colores mientras reflexiono sobre lo que el cuerpo da y recibe. Esta segunda mujer la enlazo a un texto lleno de acción, dar y recibir, la conciencia del cuerpo y la Tierra al unísono dando y recibiendo. En la menstruación el cuerpo de la mujer da y recibe. Comunica y expresa su dolor, recibe conocimiento.

La Mujer 2: La Juncal (2011)

En esta pintura la fértil belleza escucha a la Tierra. Esta mujer está preparada para lo que la Tierra le regale, lo que la lluvia le traiga, lo que el aire le arrebate. Tiende a cuidar todo lo que le rodea. Sus flores y macetas tiñen de colores y olores su lugar, su momento. Es una persona llena de instinto maternal. Cuida su huerto y alimenta al que llama a su puerta. Los animales del corral responden a su voz.  Es una persona que es feliz con estar, con ser. Con levantarse con el sol y acostarse rendida observando su luna llena.

Esta mujer tuvo cientos de hijos, cultivó cientos de melones, sandias, tomates y judías, y rió cientos de veces. Es una mujer tranquila, que trabaja con sus manos, se entretiene con las nubes pasar y se acepta a sí misma, preguntándose cuándo acabará la sequía. Es una mujer de tierra, de naturaleza. Imagina mundos lejanos con cultivos abundantes, frutas de formas extrañas y sabores infinitos. Los colores en su vida son primarios, definidos y brillantes. Lleva el pelo recogido y suda pensamientos de satisfacción.

I learn to use colours as I reflect on what the body gives and receives. I link this second woman to a text full of action, the consciousness of the body and the Earth in unison giving and receiving. During menstruation women’s body gives and receives. She communicates and expresses her pain, and receives knowledge.

Woman 2: La Juncal (2011)

In this painting the fertile beauty listens to Earth. This woman is ready for what Earth will tribute, what rain will bring, what air will take from her. She tends to take care of everything around her. Her flowers and pots stain her place, her moment with colours and scents. She is a person full of maternal instinct. She takes care of her garden and feeds who calls her door. The poultry animals respond to her voice.  She is a person who is happy to be. Happy to be raised with the sun and lie down exhausted seeing her full moon.

This woman gave birth to hundreds of children, cultivated hundreds of melons, watermelons, tomatoes, and beans, and she laughed hundreds of times. She is a quiet woman, who works with her hands, enjoys clouds walking by and accepts herself, wondering when the dry season will end. She is a woman of Earth, nature. She imagines distant worlds with abundant harvests, fruit of strange forms and infinite flavours. The colours in her life are primary, sharp and bright. She wears her hair up and sweats thoughts of satisfaction.

Mujer 1: La Rosa (2009)

Esta pintura no está acabada, y siento que he de dejarla sin acabar. Es una mujer curiosa, intenta comprender quién es, y qué pasa a su alrededor. Es fuerte, altiva y llena de ternura. Es una mujer que se pregunta cómo llegar a su meta. Qué ha de hacer para cumplir su objetivo. Es flexible, y aunque a veces se sale de su camino, tarde o temprano, triste o divertida, vuelve a su vereda y continúa mirando hacia el horizonte. Se pregunta qué hacen otras mujeres, cómo logran continuar su camino y si alguna vez se salen de él.

Es una mujer que investiga sobre otras mujeres. Quiere ser consciente de su persona, y sobre todo de lo que ocurre a su alrededor, porque, aunque sea ingenua, a veces la propia consciencia le asusta, y busca fuera a otras personas para comprender si las demás son también como ella, ¿Se buscan a sí mismas? ¿Se salen de su camino? ¿Cometen errores? ¿Miran otras opciones? Su inseguridad determina parte de su personalidad, que lejos de ser fija, baila entre estados de ánimo con diferentes texturas que se camuflan en su lugar y momento. Su enérgico presente hacia la confianza plena en el despertar de su feminidad.

Su curiosidad la lleva a vivir ciertas experiencias que invitan finalmente a la soledad ser partícipe única y compañera fiel, viaja junto a ella y le da momentos de pereza, tristeza, risas y de bendita lucidez.

Woman 1: La Rosa (2009)

This painting is not finished and I feel I have to leave it unfinished. She is a curious woman, trying to understand who she is, and what is happening around her. She is strong, proud and full of tenderness. She is a woman who wonders how to reach her goal. What does she have to do to fulfill her purpose? She is flexible, and although sometimes she leaves her path, sooner or later, sad or witty, she returns to it and continues to look out to the horizon. She wonders what other women do, how do they manage to continue their path and if they ever get out of it.

A woman who inquires about other women. She wants to be aware of herself, and especially what is happening around her, because although still naïve sometimes she is scared of being aware and she reaches out to other people to understand if others are also like her. Are they searching for themselves? Are they getting out of their own path? Do they make mistakes? Are they looking at other options? Her insecurity defines part of her personality, that far from being fixed it is dancing between moods with different textures camouflaged in place and time; her forceful present towards a sated confidence in her femininity awakening.

Her curiosity leads her to live certain experiences finally inviting the solitude to be the sole shareholder and faithful partner travelling next to her; giving her moments of laziness, sorrow, laughter and blessed lucidity.
